Sights Unseen
Sights Unseen is a media-activated sculpture taking the form of a 1:20th scale shipping container. Within the open doors of the container is a small screen displaying AI-generated (GAN) imagery of drone strikes. The piece articulates the dual nature exportation of force through trade and though force. While most of the world knows the standard shipping container as a unit of trade, it is often set up as a command-and-control center for use by drone pilots. Inside, sheltered in an air-conditioned space with set up with state of the art-computing, drone operators subject those within their sights to choices made half a world away. In the scale of this piece, an operator inside could surveil or end the life of someone in 300 miles away.
